What's new?

Nov 1, 2007   -   Thanks to Jagadisananda prabhu we were able to increase our video upload bandwidth by 50%. This much needed improvement will help increase video quality and reduce many video problems.

Get free Flash Player 9 now! (required for full-screen videos) Flash9 videos will now play in full-screen mode if you have the latest Flash player(9.0.28+). Click on the Full-screen button next to the Volume control. Adobe says that 93% of computers now have this version installed. You can get it free by clicking on the Flash icon at the top of the video page. You can also resize the Flash video to any size by dragging the window borders.

The Deity Photo Gallery and Slideshow is now updated daily.

New on-demand videos: Gita Jayanti - All 700 verses of the Bhagavad Gita chanted by Nirantara dasa - December 12, 2010.

You may want to use the LA TV webcam during classes as it can handle unlimited simultaneous users, whereas the

Thanks to our temple president Svavasa prabhu and some generous donors, we were able to upgrade our Geovision server on February 8, 2006. You should notice significant improvement in video quality. Recorded audio files of temple classes are now conveniently grouped by speaker and can now be downloaded as you wish. Right-click on a file and select Save Target As to download. Go to classes

How do I get live sound?

Click on the live audio button on the Geovision webcam viewer. If your streaming audio player is playing and there is no sound check your volume controls and the live audio schedule to see if sound is currently being broadcast. It is also possible that our microphone is turned off or not being used (We are trying to be good about that). Tip: If there is no live audio currently being broadcast you can always select other prerecorded streaming audio programs which include the best of recent classes and kirtans. See prerecorded classes and kirtans.

Note that Windows Media Player won't work with these streaming audio files. If you're getting a prompt to download a file, then you're using Windows Media Player. You must download and install one of the following streaming media players:

Why is the sound stopping (buffering) and starting again?

This occurs when the incoming audio stream is not sufficient to supply your audio player with sufficient sound data. Either the incoming sound stream is too low or the sound player is set too high. Possible causes are:

    1. You have a modem internet connection and your sound player is set to a DSL/cable connection. Reset your sound player to modem connection.
    2. You have a modem internet connection and you are viewing live video and listening to live audio at the same time. This is most likely too much for your modem. Stop the live video to get better live audio.
    3. If you have a DSL/cable connection try lowering the incoming data rate setting on your sound media player.

How do I get live video? (The video is not working)

If you are using the LA TV webcam and there is no video then probably our server stopped unexpectedly. Sorry. We are working on this issue.

Click on Click to start on the Geovision webcam viewer. You need a small ActiveX applet installed on your computer to view the streaming video image. If you don't have it you will be prompted to download it. It is created by GeoVision. Follow the simple instructions and once it is installed you will be able to view streaming video. If the video still doesn't work you will need to go to Windows Update and download the latest version of DirectX(9.0).
    Microsoft DirectX download page

    WinXP Service Pack 2 note:
To set up the GeoVision live video you may need to temporarily turn off the security feature in your web browser which blocks downloading ActiveX controls, which is now the default with Service Pack 2. In IE6.0 click on the Tools menu-->Internet Options-->Security-->Custom Level-->ActiveX controls and plug-ins-->Download unsigned ActiveX controls-->Enable-->OK-->Confirm changes,Yes-->OK. Then try to start the live video again and you should be prompted to download the GeoVision ActiveX control. Always give your permission to download GeoVision files if you are asked. You should restore the original settings in your web browser after you have the GeoVision ActiveX applet described above installed on your computer.

    Windows Vista note:
The GeoVision webcam viewer does not seem to work with Windows Vista yet. We have spent hours with tech support but have not found the answer yet.

JavaScript also needs to be enabled in your web browser. To turn on JavaScript in IE6.0 click on the Tools menu-->Internet Options-->Security-->Custom Level-->Scripting-->Active Scripting-->Enable-->OK-->Confirm changes, Yes-->OK.

Note that during peak viewing times (morning Bhagavatam class) there may be a delay of up to one minute before the video begins.

Why is the video jumpy? (Do devotees have mystic powers?)

Your video player is not getting a sufficient stream of data causing the display to be jumpy due to infrequent updates.  Possible causes are:

    1. You have a modem internet connection but you have selected the DSL/cable viewer. Choose the modem viewer. (The type of viewer you have selected is displayed on the lower left side of the viewer.)
    2. You have a modem internet connection and you are simultaneously listening to streaming audio. You may have to stop the live audio to improve the video display.
    3. Your current modem connection speed may not be at its maximum due to unfavorable line conditions. Reconnect or try again later.
    4. A modem will most likely not be able to handle the 2 camera view very well. Select the single camera viewer.
    5. You have a modem internet connection but your video media player is set to DSL/cable connection. Reset your video media viewer to modem connection.
    6. Our server may not be able to keep up with the higher than normal demand during peak viewing times.

Why is the video interface not working properly?

We may have updated the viewer interface and you may need to refresh your display. Click on your browsers Refresh button or delete your temporary internet files.

Sometimes the control buttons are a little "sticky."  You may have to click on them more than once.

How do I get prerecorded classes and kirtans?

For a complete schedule of prerecorded classes and kirtans, go to schedule.

How do I move the camera around?

Geovision Camera #1 is a PTZ camera (Pan Tilt Zoom) which you can control by first selecting camera #1 by clicking on the CHOOSE CAMERA button and then clicking on the PTZ camera control button on the webcam viewer. Click on START CONTROL. You will have 60 seconds to control the camera. Your remaining time is shown in the upper right hand box. This box will also show you how much time you will have to wait until it is your turn if someone else is using the PTZ controls. You can move the camera Up, Down, Left and Right. Z+ and Z- are for zooming in and out. F+ and F- are manual focus controls which override the auto-focus feature and which should be avoided as they almost always leave the camera out of focus.

The best way to move the camera around is to use the preset views found in the dropdown box at the bottom of the PTZ Control.

Why is the camera out of focus?

Geovision Camera #1 is a PTZ camera (Pan Tilt Zoom) which you can control by clicking on the PTZ camera control button on the webcam viewer. The bottom two buttons F+ and F- control the manual focus. These buttons do not work very well and almost always leave the camera out of focus. Try selecting one of the preset views to bring the camera back into focus.

Why is the sound not in sync with the video?

The Geovision live audio is being broadcast by Shoutcast software which delays the audio feed by approximately one minute due to the buffering process.

How can I set up my own live streaming webcam?

The main thing you need is a high speed internet connection and static IP address which is not cheap. You could try a regular DSL connection but the number of simultaneous viewers and listeners will be limited. Then you will need a fast computer, digital video capture card and server software. We are using GeoVision software and DVR card. See www.microsurveillance.com/dvrcards.htm for some good information and tips. Then you will need good quality high resolution digital cameras. For broadcasting streaming audio we are using Shoutcast.com.

An alternative solution used by the Alachua, Florida temple uses an integrated camera and web server and is explained at http://www.krishna.com/alachua/webcam_how-to.html

We are using the services of Antardwip prabhu and Mayapur.TV to stream our live video to multiple simultaneous viewers. He is willing to help any ISKCON temple set up the same system we use. Please feel free to contact him at Mayapur.tv

How can I make a donation?

Glad you asked! Click on the donations button or here.

What about Macintosh and Firefox users?

Macintosh and Firefox users may need to use the alternate Jpeg viewer for proper video display. Click on "submit." (No ID or password required.)    More info for Mac
